Adios...

We are packing our bags and heading south of the border for a little R+R. This will be our first family vacation since the little lady came into our lives only seven short months ago. We are all excited for our time together out of the daily norm - no work and all play. I haven't been to Southern Baja since I hitch-hiked out of there in 1997 after a semester with NOLS. I have a feeling that this trip will be much more glamorous than that experience {which was an incredible adventure by the way}. We have done something completely out of the ordinary and booked a time share at an all inclusive resort. Usually we find a house and rent through VRBO. However, you find yourself still doing laundry, cooking and cleaning while on vacation. So with a friend's recommendation we decided to give the resort thing a try. I am curious to see how we fare - I have a feeling we will make out just fine. Have a great weekend everyone! I will check back in after our little Mexican jaunt. oxo

Homesick...

As the season turns warm I always long for home...there is no place like my little island in the summertime. It was Grace who thrusted me deeper into my yearning for the East and at the same time turned up the excitement for our journey in August. I can't wait to smell the woods and salt air mixed into one, enjoy littlenecks and home grown corn on the cob, shop at the farm stand, drink a late night beer with friends, sit around a beach bonfire, swim out at Chappy, go for a carousel ride with the kids, experience a Menemsha sunset and visit the animals at the Ag Fair. We are already there...

Scardigan...

Do you Scardigan? Have you ever? I know you are thinking "What pray tell is a Scardigan?"...well, let me show you.

While out thrifting this week for stocking material I came across this funny little thing...pretty fancy, eh? I will be repurposing it for my Christmas stockings but wanted to give you all a peek before I put the scissors to it.

This is the palette for the stockings. Two wool skirts, a wool jacket and a Scardigan. Stay tuned to see the finished products.

Jingle all the way...

Now that we have finished up with the Thanksgiving festivities we can move on over to the Christmas crafting...another busy time of year filled with late nights, ink stained hands, bold new experiments, sewn fingers, a paper and textile littered 'office' floor and way too many trips to Michael's.

Here are only a few items from my list of crafting to do's:

Ornaments

Holiday Cards

Stockings

Shortbread

Gobble gobble...

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite times of year. I enjoy the production of the meal and the gathering of loved ones. May you all have a wonderful day filled with tasty vittles and an abundance laughter.
